Question on Why? and How?
1. Skill of Communication
WHY?
- Its important when adopting materials
- It helps to pass the right information across to the right group.
HOW?
- By use of clear language, avoid jargon and be sensitive to details appropriate to the target group.
- Judge your communication tools
2. Attitude of sharing
WHY?
- It helps to come up with the right materials
HOW?
- By discussing with peers
- Recognising that learning/teaching is a dynamic process and we * Value life long learning
- Learn to identify your next learning requirement.
3. Knowledge of background group(Gender, culture, educational level, language & development needs.)
WHY?
- To help give appropriate solutions to meet the (development) needs-present & future.
HOW?
- Trainer personally gets involved with the target group i.e. questionnaires, discussion groups, internet etc. e. g give my assumptions and get feedback whether right or wrong.
- Open up a direct communication with people who know the target group e.g. change agents
- Leave opportunity for final adaptation e.g. blank space
4. Knowledge on locally based examples
WHY?
- Identify acknowledge and relate information you are passing to their experience
HOW?
- Have a full knowledge of information pertaining to the target group.
5. Attitude copyright
WHY?
- Getting materials without payment/acknowledgement is theft of intellectual property which is unprofessional.
- Encouraging references can further research by learners.
HOW?
- Copy left through creative commons you can use materials freely adapt and get credit for your adaptation.
6. Skills to adapt materials to existing technology
WHY?
- So that the people should not be excluded for lack of technology.
HOW?
- Check with other people what they have done
- Trainer must know what exactly technical levels are required to facilitate learning.
7. Skill- Methodology
WHY?
- It helps the Trainer to breakdown the information into a structured way.
How?
- By fully understanding the objectives and material content
- Adapt other methodologies of similar nature
- By the Trainer learning the skill in material methodologies and
- Adapting it to the target audience and content.
8. Attitude
WHY?
- Right material should be delivered to the right target group
How?
- Sensitive to the needs of the target group
9. Knowledge- ICTs Usage/applying ICT in development context
WHY?
- It will help Trainer to pass down knowledge that can be applied in real life situation.
How?
- By customising material
- Understanding the applicability of what you are training
