Living in the Kitwe on Copperbelt province in Zambia, Derrick like any other child was happy to stay with his parents and family. He joined the Copperbelt University in 1999 and as fate would have it, he lost dear sister when he was a 1st year student in computer science. He was visited by the same by fate in 2nd year when he lost his dear father. The last blow fell on Derrick during his 3rd year when again lost his dear mother. All these unfortunate happenings left Derrick totally demoralized and lacking sense of direction to stay focused. To add salt to injury, Derrick had a lecturer who was all out to frustrate him by either not appearing for lectures or if he appears at all, would offer nothing worth learning. These made Derrick vow to become a lecturer in future should any chance come his way. Besides all these obstacles, Derrick managed to successfully complete his university education and now his a full time lecturer of computer science and information systems at the Copperbelt university.
